Hin und zurück
Hin und zurück (Return) portraits several Mexican men that migrated to USA and that after the years decided to return. The reasons why they decided to go back to Mexico are different, some of them decided to return because of the economical crisis in USA, others decide to go back to their families having the expectation to start again. I worked centered on the concept of expectations and my main question to approach was to know the expectations they had about returning to Mexico. The project consist of a book, photography portraits and a series of “photographic films”.
For the "photographic films" I use the format of photography through the language of film to create a new art of portrait. My intention was to create a contemplative image where the passing of time becomes the language of the portrait. This allows the spectator to be focus on the characters and in the movement of the details within the image. The audio context and a narration of their stories is included in the films.
